New TURBOVAC MAG iS models from Leybold for industrial and research applications
February 18, 2025
Compact, lightweight and low vibration
With the TURBOVAC MAG 2807 iS and 3207 iS Maglev turbomolecular pumps, Leybold is launching two new, compact turbomolecular pumps in the pumping speed class of 3,000 l/s. Equipped with magnetic rotor bearings, these highly robust, low vibration pumps are ideal for clean, hydrocarbon free, high vacuum conditions.
They are well-suited for applications in research and development and industrial fields such as coating, electron beam processes, space simulation chambers, and beamline applications.
According to Jinane Haddad, the responsible Product Manager, who summarised some of the important features of the TURBOVAC MAG iS series:
"The exceptional performance of the vacuum pumps is due to their compact design and extended maintenance intervals,"
Maintenance intervals of up to 80,000 hours or 10,000 cycles. In addition to these attributes, the vacuum specialists at Leybold placed great emphasis on the ratio of maximum pumping speed to footprint during development.
The TURBOVAC MAG iS delivers excellent performance values in terms of pumping speed and gas throughput – with speeds of up to 3,200 l/s, at a maximum throughput of 26 and 33 mbar l/s for Ar and N2 respectively.
Can be installed in almost any position
An important feature that sets the TURBOVAC MAG iS apart from comparable competitor products is its universal range of applications: the turbomolecular pump's weight of less than 60 kilograms is a key factor here – a figure that makes it one of the lightest pumps in its size class.
Product Manager Jinane Haddad emphasizes another fundamental advantage, especially for the target group:
"It can be installed in almost any position. It is precisely this feature that makes these innovations from Leybold the ideal high vacuum pump for working environments where space is limited and flexibility is required"
Customized for sensitive areas of application
Users value not only the compactness of the TURBOVAC MAG iS pumps but also their versatility, cleanliness, and reliability. With an innovative pump and bearing design, these pumps are tailored for sensitive applications that demand a clean, hydrocarbon-free vacuum, such as in coating processes.
"This includes the production of glass lenses, medical devices, and the coating of aerospace components and architectural glass," explains Jinane Haddad.
Additionally, they are ideal for scientific research fields like accelerators, where clean, vibration-free operation is crucial.
"In industrial applications, performance reliability is key to maintaining production levels," adds Product Manager Jinane Haddad, highlighting the critical requirements for these use cases.
